Ingredients:
1–2 apples, sliced into round discs
Puff pastry, sliced into thin strips
1 egg
Cinnamon
Sugar
Preheat oven to 200°C. Slice apples into round, even cylinders. If you have a corer, remove the center. If not, carefully cut out a small circle using a knife.
In one bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon. In another, mix egg yolk and a pinch of cinnamon. Dip apple slices in the cinnamon sugar mix.
Wrap puff pastry strips around each apple slice in a criss-cross or “pumpkin” shape.
Brush with the egg yolk mix, sprinkle with extra sugar. Bake for 15–20 minutes until golden and crispy.
