A few quick tips:
Make sure your pan is really hot before the steak goes in.
Add just a small amount of oil - wipe it around the pan with kitchen roll for an even coating.
Take your steak out of the fridge 20–30 minutes before cooking so it reaches room temperature.
Pat dry for a better crust.
Season generously with salt just before cooking.
And most importantly, always let your steak rest before serving.
