Hot Cross Bun

Ingredients: 

  • Spray oil, for greasing

  • 2 medium eggs

  • 50ml whole milk

  • ½ tsp almond or vanilla extract

  • 6 hot cross buns

  • Mixed nuts

  • Strawberries

  • Desiccated coconut

  • Honey

  • Icing sugar, for dusting (optional)

Prepare the batter

In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, almond or vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.

Begin Cooking

Using tongs, dip each hot cross bun into the egg mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated. Place the coated buns into a hot frying pan and cook for 5 minutes. Flip them over and cook for an additional 2 minutes.

Serve

While the buns are cooking, slice up your strawberries.Once the buns are cooked, drizzle with honey and top with sliced strawberries, mixed nuts, and desiccated coconut.

Optionally, dust with icing sugar and serve!
